Duties of the President:
| Contact officers (incoming and outgoing if possible) in June to determine date of the officers' planning meeting. | |
| Prepare agenda and preside over officers' planning meeting. | |
| Arrange with treasurer for updating of bank signature cards in June. | |
| Update list of RASSL officers, committee chairs and committee members. Distribute committee list to the membership and to the Homepage administrator. | |
| Contact board members and committee chairs two weeks prior to each RASSL meeting to determine agenda for upcoming meeting and status of committee projects. |

| Prepare RASSL meeting agenda. | |
| Preside over RASSL meeting. | |
| Update the RASSL President's notebook, as new information becomes available. Forward older material to the archives. | |
| Appoint the nominating Committee (3 members), who will serve for one year, at the February meeting. | |
| Inform new committee chairmen of their responsibilities. | |
| Perform any other duties as needed. | |
| Forward all pertinent material to the incoming president in a timely fashion. | |
| Estimated time involved: Officers' meeting prep and meeting time 2-2½ hours. Attend and preside over 4 meetings and attend field trip. 1 hour prep and follow-up per meeting. 2 hours additional duties for the year. |
Duties of the Vice-President/Program Chairperson:
| Assist the president as needed. | |
| After consulting the membership and officers, prepare program and speaker schedule for the year. | |
| Contact speaker six to eight weeks before the meeting to verify arrangements. | |
| Send confirmation letter and luncheon invitation to speaker. | |
| Contact the host library to confirm site and luncheon arrangements six weeks before the meeting. | |
| Give detail of the meeting and luncheon arrangements to the secretary 5 to 6 weeks prior to the meeting for preparation of the meeting notice. | |
| Forward all pertinent material to the incoming Vice-President in a timely fashion. | |
| Estimated time involved: Attend officers meeting and four meetings and field trip. Eight to nine hours for planning and arranging all five events. |
Duties of the Treasurer:
| Arrange for updating bank signature cards in June. | |
| Verify and file bank statements and cancelled checks. | |
| Report transactions and bank balance to membership at meetings. | |
| Write necessary checks. | |
| Record all transactions in the account books. | |
| Collect lunch fees from membership and pay restaurant or caterers as pre-arranged with the host. | |
| Forward membership slips to the Secretary. | |
| Forward all pertinent material to the incoming Treasurer in a timely fashion. | |
| Estimated time involved: Attend officers meeting and four meetings and field trip. Two hours of prep and follow-up every other month. One hour to update bank signature cards every year. |
Duties of the Secretary/Membership Chairperson:
| Create and send membership applications to all eligible libraries in August. (SLS Reference Service does not pay a membership fee.) | |
| Compile membership list from information supplied by the Treasurer and distribute to the membership. | |
| Send reminder notices to libraries that have not paid membership fees prior to each meeting. | |
| Obtain program and luncheon information from the Vice-President/Program Chair. | |
| Send list of meeting dates, places and topics to Glenn Kirsten to be included in Points of Reference, to Nell Ingalls for inclusion in the SLS Newsletter (both at SLS Reference Service) and to the RASSL Homepage administrator. | |
| Record, type and distribute minutes from each meeting. | |
| Submit appropriate documents for addition to the RASSL Homepage (forward to Judi Wolinsky at Homewood on disk if possible.) | |
| Forward all pertinent material to the incoming Secretary in a timely fashion. | |
| Estimated time involved: Attend and take minutes at 4 meetings per year and attend field trip if possible. Attend officers' meeting 1-2 hours. 2 hours of prep and follow-up per meeting. 1½ hours per year for other duties. |
Duties of a Committee Chairperson:
| Conduct committee meetings as necessary. | |
| Collect and update information annually or as need is determined by the membership. | |
| Distribute information in format fitting the committee. | |
| Notify President of changes in committee members, structure, etc. as soon as possible. | |
| Forward all pertinent material to the incoming Committee Chair in a timely fashion. |
